Well size of saucers

The well size of a saucer can be determined both by the total well diameter (gross) and by the actually available space (net) for articles to be placed on it. In order to determine a suitable (compatible) saucer for an article to be placed on it, we at Holst Porzellan work exclusively with the net well size.

ø footprint:  up to 45 mm 46 - 54 mm bigger than 54 mm
compatible up to ca. 2 mm up to ca. 3 mm up to ca. 3 mm
incompatible: > 5 mm > 5 mm > 5 mm

The net footprint is the area available for an article to be placed on it with dimension R (bottom ring). This excludes well edges, elevations and bevels. After extensive research, the following tolerance values for the compatibility of cup and saucer have been defined for the presentation in our range. Please note that these values are subject to a subjective perception and do not refer to a harmony between cup and saucer.

The values between "compatible" and "not compatible" are subject to the subjective perception of each observer and are shown as compatible in our presentation. Please ask for samples of the articles in case of doubt and consult our sales department. Many thanks.

Legal note on dimensional tolerances

Porcelain and Ceramics are a material that gets its shape and shine from handcraft and fire. Please note that due to production-related fluctuations, the specifications may differ from the quality supplied. With exact examination - e.g. in the digital measuring procedure - it becomes visible that each porcelain item is unique, even if it is the same article of a series. These tolerance dimensions are even specified in the German industrial standard DIN-66072. The dimensions and capacities of our goods have been determined to the best of our knowledge. Nevertheless, the units indicated are not to be understood as guaranteed characteristics and are therefore not legally binding.

If compliance with exact dimensions and contents is important for an order, you should determine the dimensional accuracy of your specification yourself by sampling before placing an order! The "total space requirement" indicates the amount of total space (including handles in the case of cups and mugs). The content is indicated in litres and is always "totally full to the rim", i.e. much more than the usual serving capacity.

Holst Porzellan is suitable for use with food and is supplied with a legally valid declaration of conformity.
