Instructions for handling porcelain

So that you can enjoy using our porcelain for as long as possible, in this section of our product information we provide some tips and instructions for the use and long-term, sustainable durability of this valuable product. Above all, we recommend that our commercial customers in the hotel and catering industry familiarise their staff with these recommendations. To our regret, the teaching of materials science in vocational schools for hotel managers, waiters and chefs suffers at the expense of longevity and thus to the detriment of the businesses.

Instructions for use for porcelain

The composition of the material is described more or less precisely in each item of clothing. Above all, however, there are instructions on how to wash or clean what and at what temperature. Although porcelain and many similar ceramic tableware items are intended to come into contact with food, there are unfortunately no such instructions and explanations in our industry. This has prompted us to formulate this page for you with general instructions for using porcelain.

Determine your porcelain

It is not only the lack of skilled labour on all sides - but also the deliberate deception of consumers that leads to the regrettable situation that many goods on our market are labelled as "porcelain" which are not actually porcelain! In order to determine beyond doubt whether your piece of crockery is actually a porcelain shard fired above 1,320 °C, have it checked before you buy it! Here is an example from practice. If the supplier refuses to provide such information, whether out of ignorance or lack of knowledge, it is usually not porcelain, but a lower quality ceramic. Porcelain and ceramic differ in their usability!

You can find out how to distinguish porcelain from inferior ceramics on our "Properties/Determination" page. You can find a brief and easy-to-understand explanation of what you should bear in mind when buying genuine hard porcelain on our "Airbag for buying" page.

Product knowledge - A request to our readers!

Since 1998, we have been cultivating our product knowledge out of a passion for porcelain and the endeavour to share our knowledge about this beautiful and exciting material. In the more than 20 years since then, our information pages have grown into a free online encyclopaedia of porcelain knowledge and serve dealers, end customers, vocational schools and have even become a helpful reference work for competitors. In times of increasingly important reviews on the Internet, we therefore ask you to write us a small review on Google. In this way, you will also help us to address topics that have not yet been dealt with and to constantly revise this knowledge database. Thank you very much.
