Minimum Order Quantity

MOQ - Minimum Order Quantity

MOQ - this is where two worlds meet. One of the most hotly contested topics in the field of custom products, in-house production and special articles is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) of an article. You have to be well-versed in the subject of porcelain or have a great deal of understanding to understand the demands of the factories for their MOQ. However, what at first glance appears to be an exorbitant requirement quickly becomes understandable when one takes a look at the details of porcelain production.

Occasionally, it seems that customers believe that you throw a shovel of kaolin into the top of a machine and a porcelain cup comes out the bottom. The multitude of steps we have described about the shaping of porcelain should help to look at the subject of minimum quantity also from the perspective of the manufacturers.

Without knowing a product and the target quantity, we at Holst Porzellan generally do not make a statement for what we consider to be the most suitable manufacturing country. Only then do we determine the production site and the molding technique under consideration. Then the choice of material is made.  The delivery time, the quality specifications and the type of special production - promotion (one-off) or series (recurring productions) - are also highly relevant.

However, in order to give an approximate guide and reference about the necessary order quantities of custom-made products, here are some non-binding guide values.

Isostatic flat pieces     150.000 pcs.
Conventional flat pieces 6.000 pcs.
Machine pressed pieces 30.000 pcs.
Conventional pressed pieces 3.000 pcs.
Turned pieces 4.000 pcs.

Those whose options for purchasing minimum quantities for in-house developments - i.e. not any product variants of existing molds - deviate significantly from these denominations should find out more about our fulfillment service.
