Material:
This item is made of feldspar porcelain, one of the oldest and most proven materials for degusting and presenting food and hot drinks. Because of the high firing temperature and the resulting hardness and density, it is also called hard porcelain. Feldspar porcelain is always oven-safe, suitable for the microwave and dishwasher-safe.

Quality level:
This item is classified into the quality level High Quality as the best sorting with a ratio of approx. 95/5 a-b-grade. The glaze is even and shiny. The item is free from visual flaws. In very few cases minor pinholes or light refractions can still be seen when reviewed carefully. As porcelain is a natural product, the item is "top" but not "perfect". This quality level is comparable e.g. with Bauscher, Schönwald, Rosenthal, Villeroy & Boch, RAK and many other well-known premium brands.

Addittedly, the porcelain coffee filter is not an invention of Holst Porzellan. This privilege is unfortunately incumbent on the market leader for filter bags, the company Melitta from Minden, but rather on the founder, Mrs. Melitta Bentz, and goes back to the year 1908.

As professionals in porcelain, we at Holst Porzellan felt called upon to make a good product even better, because the traditional porcelain filter with the handle has some disadvantages which we wanted to change. By the way, one of these improvements was made by Gretel Holst, wife of our company founder in 1928 Alfred Knud Holst. Until her old age, Gretel Holst was a passionate coffee drinker. But age and gout made it increasingly difficult for her to lift this coffee filter from the pot with one handle. Often the porcelain filter tilted downwards and all the coffee grounds spilled all over the sink and floor. Eventually she was no longer able to operate the jug filter with one hand. So she asked her grandson Knud Holst III to design a filter that could be easily grasped with both hands, even in old age, and which could be lifted safely from the jug. The solution was very simple: two solid porcelain knob handles, mounted on opposite sides, gave the best result for handling this brew coffee filter. That was the birth of the coffee filter of the GZ line from Holst Porzellan. The "G" still stands for Gretel and the "Z" for the first factory that built this filter for Holst Porzellan.

And while we were at it, there were some details that improved the function and brewing result of the brew coffee filter. A real barista helped us to measure the flow rate of the hot water through the filter, fitted with a 1 x 4 Melitta filter door, not according to the assumptions of a porcelain maker but according to the recommendations of a coffee sommelier. Cheap coffee filters have flatter inner webs, cheap porcelain filters, only suggest inner webs. This is because due to the cheap price, the moulds are used in the production process for far too long to make cheap filters. We at Holst Porzellan have determined that a new production mould must be used after only 30 filters. This way the inner webs remain raised and rich in contours and the filter doors do not stick to the inner walls of the coffee filter. The bean coffee can thus seep through the ground coffee powder at exactly the right time and on the one hand has enough time to absorb the aromas and on the other hand does not develop bitter substances due to a too long service life.

Be remind: Cheap coffee filters are available in plastic up from 3.99.

Multifunction:
This product Coffee dripper for pot made from high quality hard porcelain has, of course, even more versatile uses and applications. Equally a good online offer at a reasonable price.
