Mould sets

A mould set is the number of necessary working moulds required for a manufacturing process. Especially in the production types casting, rolling, turning and pressing, the number of moulds, i.e. the number of working moulds required, plays a very cost-decisive role. The rule of thumb is "the more modern the production technology, the higher the number of moulds".

While a single-place jiggering operator in hollow part production can manage with one working mould, assembly lines require far more moulds. A Lippert P141 hollow parts carousel has a theoretical production volume of 500 cups per hour and a mould set of 48 working moulds. A Lippert P41 plate carousel requires 135 working moulds for a production volume of approximately 250 small plates per hour. Very efficient cycle lines like a Lippert P41/2/300 produces up to 1,200 cups per hour on 124 working forms.

The high quality of the European plaster moulds, but also and above all the favourable climatic conditions allow the mould set to be used several times for different production cycles. This considerably extends the half-life of the working moulds in the European porcelain industry compared to the Asian way of working. More.
