As a sponsor of various teams, Holst Porzellan took part in various barbecue championships over many years and learned from the professionals what is meant by masterful grilling. For us, the BBQ spectrum ranges from grilling sausages on the camping barbecue to cooking a Kobe fillet at low temperature, matured and cured in a smoker with Canadian oak herb chunks. Barbecuing has long ceased to be the typically masculine sport of yesteryear, and is now often a culinary event of the highest order. We are not in a position to answer the question "Which is better grilled, pork loin or Wagyu beef, beech smoke or bay leaf aroma, beef sausage or Thuringian?", nor the question "Is a charcoal barbecue better than a gas barbecue?".

Here, in our BBQ & Grilling Inspiration, we´ve put together an extract of the items selected by barbecue specialists for the occasion in question and deemed particularly appropriate.

It was almost predictable that our Snack-Line porcelain, with its disposable chip trays, fricadelle plates and sausage plates, would top the list. Professional grillers are certainly very demanding, but they don't want to lose the pleasure of grilling. It's important that there's an understandable connection with the food being grilled, whether in an elegant or fun way. However, both variants place great importance on the fact that the grilled delicacies are not served in ordinary crockery, and emphasise the special nature of the grilling.

Grilled golden corn on the cob, for example, never belongs on the same plate as grilled meat and other satiating accompaniments, but is served in style in a corn-on-the-cob bowl or, more elegantly, in the boat-shaped bowl with wood decor WD338. In keeping with the Wood-Style, the different types of bread, served on the WD238 bread board, also stand out. Grilled chops and braised legs find an appropriate setting on oval platters, and vegetarian vegetables should find their distinction from meat lovers on the elegant S-shaped porcelain dishes from the Sigma range.

When marinating meat, never use plastic or stainless steel dishes. Mustard- or vinegar-based sauces and many ready-made marinades attack plastic, melamine and nickel steel surfaces and transfer unwanted foreign substances to the food to be grilled. Marinate in porcelain containers such as our Gutshof 1.8 and 3.5 litre box moulds or the GN porcelain containers made for this purpose. Salt and pepper in sprinklers that look like beer bottles may not be essential, but they are fun and eye-catching.
