Manual hammer pressing is a rather peculiar and curious way of producing porcelain. Even experienced porcelain makers with many years of experience are always surprised by this particularly simple production technique. The hammering technique is used to produce

Hammer pressing is one of the oldest and simplest methods of porcelain production and is usually of inferior quality. The craft business shown here collects the raw material residues from the neighbouring factories, mixes and dries them. They are then ground and refined into a coarse dry powder. Immediately before production, it is then moistened a little and poured into the mould. The steel mould is then closed with a wedge and "tapped" until the wedge has lowered.
