Handle openings
Recessed handles and handle openings in porcelain
Handle openings are not defects in terms of production. Rather, they occur during production (so-called casting), i.e. in the casting or die-casting process, because the body and handle are produced together in one process. Porcelain that is produced for commercial use should not have these openings so that no food or drink residues can form in the hard-to-reach areas. Nevertheless, such openings should not be considered a production defect, as long as the points of contact with food and drink can be cleaned.
