Spray glazes

Spray glazes in porcelain production

As far as the method of application is concerned, the production method of spray glazing hardly differs from that of spray decoration.
The technique of spray glazing originates from the "modern" production of fond glazes or solid colours. A compressor is used to transfer the decorative colour to the body as a fine mist of colour under high pressure using a spray gun. By constantly rotating the porcelain body on a disc, the fine glaze mist from the spray gun is evenly applied to the raw porcelain body. Normally, strong glaze colours are sprayed on as a full fond. In the video above, however, we show you something very unusual. Instead of an evenly covering glaze, in this video small mineral "Metallica pigments" are sprayed onto the bisquith hard body using the technique of spray decoration. But this is just one of the many details and secrets with which we produce our "reactive porcelain".
Glaze spraying is very rare nowadays and the process is almost extinct. The capacities of moulding are low, extremely costly and the process of dip glazing is far more efficient and less harmful to the environment and health.
