Pre firing check

The procedure of the so-called pre-fire check using kerosene or combustion residue-free liquids is extremely useful and meanwhile widely used!

This additional step is particularly worthwhile for articles that take up a lot of firing space in the kiln or are very complex to produce. The porcelain article is completely coated with kerosene in the pre-annealed or leather-hard state and with this procedure it is possible to detect whether there are hairline cracks or surface damage on the article. These damages on the shard are usually only detected after the hard firing in the quality control department, but unnecessarily "pushed" an article that was defective from the start "through the kiln" and thus gave away expensive firing space. The kerosene coating makes these damages clearly visible even before the fire and evaporates without residue during hard firing in the kiln without leaving any residues.
