The name Holst has been associated with porcelain since 1928 and we have been selling tableware for the professional sector, i.e. hotels, restaurants and communal catering, since 1955. Knud Holst (pictured above) is a third-generation porcelain maker and learnt the art of porcelain production between 1982 and 1985 in the five factories of the Winterling Group (Windischesschenbach, Kirchenlamitz, Marktleuthen, Schwarzenbach and Bruchmühlbach).

At the beginning of the 1980s, Knud Holst learnt the industry at the Upper Franconian Winterling porcelain factories - once one of the most important groups in the German porcelain industry - with a total of five factories in Windischeschenbach, Marktleuthen, Röslau, Schwarzenbach, Bruchmühlbach and Kirchenlamitz. In addition to his sales training, he also specialised in porcelain production and manufacturing. He was there when the first isostatic press was installed at Eschenbach Porzellan and the classic plate production was converted to a highly modern industrial standard.

After reunification, Knud Holst played a key role in the development of "balanced porcelain" for an East German manufacturing company and, together with respected specialist engineers in the industry - today mostly lecturers at the porcelain school in Meissen - developed functional porcelain and system tableware for the then outdated GDR machine technology.

Over the years of his career, Knud Holst has visited more than 300 porcelain factories in China, 18 in Italy, 3 in Spain, 6 in Romania, 10 in Poland and many other production sites in Turkey, Egypt, Hungary, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Switzerland, Bangladesh, Dubai and many other countries. Every year since 1997, he has consistently taken the time to further develop our production expertise at home and abroad. We would like to share this expertise with you and your employees!

From 1986 to 1996, Knud Holst worked primarily in the "tableware" supplier sector for the national and international hotel and catering industry and was honoured and awarded several times by the Hutschenreuther Group for his sales services. In 1997/1998, Knud Holst laid the foundation stone for today's Holst Porzellan GmbH in Halle/Westphalia.

He has been in charge of our own brand "Holst Porzellan/Germany" since 2000 and is primarily responsible for the development and quality assurance of our collection. His professional tasks include not only defining and checking the productions, but also supporting and advising our production partners on site in more than ten countries with his professional expertise. In September 2012, Knud Holst was awarded the "special thanks" of the People's Republic of China by the CCLA - China Chamber of Commerce for his services to the porcelain industry.
